‘AFTER EVIL’ ITV NEWS
Producer & Director
Mo Lea now leads a successful life as an artist, but back when she was a student in Leeds in 1980, she was brutally attacked. She believes the man who did it was serial killer Peter Sutcliffe, the Yorkshire Ripper.
Sutcliffe was convicted of murdering 13 women and attempting to murder seven others. He was sentenced to life in prison. Mo was named as one of the likely victims, but no charges were brought before his death in 2020. She believes little progress has been made to help support and encourage women to report crime to the police.
To mark the 40th anniversary of Sutcliffe's conviction, one of her artworks was projected onto the Houses of Parliament to highlight the ongoing injustices for women.
This short film was initially a teaser for a bigger documentary. But by collaborating with UK charity ‘End Violence Against Women’, After Evil was broadcasted on various news networks, including BBC news and ITV news.
Production company: New Duke Films.
